The Young Troupe at Strauss provides a unique venue for learning and enrichment in the lives of its actors and the community of Northeast Louisiana and South Arkansas. For 25 years, Young Troupe has challenged its actors, directors, and technical crews to reach for the stars in an intensive pursuit of excellence. As a result of these efforts, schools as well as public audiences are educated and entertained with a professional caliber theatre experience as well as many interactive learning opportunities. Young Troupe prides itself on teaching skills that not only enhance theatre performance but carry young people throughout life. Our mission is to not only educate and train our actors and technicians but the audience and community as well.
We believe that great theatre should be a part of every child’s development and can initiate a lifelong appreciation of literature and the arts, leading to a fuller and more balanced life. |

Once on this Island echoes the lessons of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid, with love crossing the societal lines of peasant versus land owner in the exotic locale that is the Caribbean Islands. Through Ti Moune we see the power of love against prejudice, hatred, and death, all though the enchanting, rhythmic music of the tropics. |
